[Important] Category Tree Adjustment in June 2021【重要通知】品类结构将于2021年6月更新

Hi Developer,

The category tree will be adjusted to be more stable and consistent across different markets, with new types of attributes introduced. This is to support sellers in filling in more comprehensive product information and optimising search results.

The new category tree will be launched in June 2021*. The exact launch dates for each market and more details will be shared nearer to the date.

*The Brazil site will not be involved in this round of adjustment.

What’s new:

• The category tree structure will be adjusted to be consistent across markets, except for the Brazil site
• More mandatory attributes will be added
• New attribute input types will be supported*

*These can only be supported in Open API 2.0. For version 1.0, these attributes will be treated as single-select.

What to expect:

• For all existing listings, the categories will be automatically adjusted by our system to match the new structure. No action will be required.
• For new listings uploaded after the new category tree is launched, do note that the API will only accept the new category ID.
• Category and attribute API will be adjusted to better suit the new structure in Open API 2.0.

- Get_category API will provide the category name in different languages.

- Attribute value_id and value_name can be extracted from the get_attributes API to be used during the listing upload process.

- For newly supported multi-select attribute types, you can input multi value_id or value_name under a single attribute_id in one request.

How to prepare for the changes:

• From now till early May:

- Familiarise with the new category tree (download it here)

- Prepare for any code and document adjustments required, such as offline category mapping relationship

• In early May:

- The sandbox environment will be ready for developers to retrieve the new category structure and conduct testing. We will send out the detailed testing instructions nearer to date.

- We will share the detailed rollout date, so that you can adopt your system or interface swiftly to the new category and attribute structure on the launch day with minimal impact.

更新上线后对上架商品的影响:

• 现有商品的品类将会自动更新成新的品类结构，无需开发者/卖家额外调整。
• 新上传的商品必须使用新的品类编号（category_id）才能上架成功，开发者/卖家将无法使用旧的品类编号。
• 品类和属性相关API将因品类结构的变动而有所调整。

- 在Open API 2.0中，get_category API接口将会返回不同语言的品类名称。

- 在Open API 1.0中，get_attributes API接口仅会返回属性的名称（value_name）；在Open API 2.0中，get_attributes API接口将会返回属性的编号（value_id）和名称（value_name），用以上架商品。

- 在Open API 2.0中，一次请求将支持单一属性ID（attribute_id）对应多个value_id或value_name

更新上线前的准备：

• 2021年2月至5月初:

- 熟悉新的品类结构（下载新的品类结构）

- 若第三方系统有独立的品类映射关系，请准备后续的代码更新和文件调整。

• 2021年5月初:

- Shopee会在沙盒环境（sandbox）提供新的数据，以便您获取新的品类结构和进行测试。详细的测试说明步骤会于测试前提供给您。

- 我们会公告具体的上线时间，方便您在品类结构更新的同时，切换您的系统以及界面至适应新品类与新属性的系统与界面，保证受到最小的影响。
