Seller Access & Sandbox Rate Limit Updates

What's Changing

1. Inactive Seller Access Restriction

TikTok Shop will restrict API access for seller or shop accounts that are in an inactive status (e.g., deactivated, closing, or otherwise unavailable).

2. Sandbox Account Rate Limit Update

To optimize resource allocation, we are updating the rate limits for testing environments:

• Affected Users: Developers making API calls using test accounts or sandbox accounts.
• Threshold: Requests may be throttled with a 429 (Too Many Requests) error if the App-level QPH (Queries Per Hour) exceeds 100.
• Note: Formal production accounts are not affected by this sandbox-specific rule.

Impact & Error Codes

Access Denial

Requests associated with invalid or inactive seller/shop accounts will fail. You may receive:

• 401 Unauthorized
• Access Denied responses

Rate Limiting (Error 429)

API calls from sandbox accounts exceeding the QPH threshold will be rejected with a 429 status code.
