§1 Scope
This handbook describes the Customer Service end-to-end testing flow for a development shop. It is not a general testing handbook for all app categories. Use this guide when you need to verify that a buyer can find a development shop, place a test order, start a customer service conversation, send an order card, and receive a seller reply.
§2 Account type requirements
Both core function accounts and full function accounts can be used for basic customer messaging tests. However, core function test accounts and their associated shops do not support real buyer purchases. Any test case that requires a real order, such as sending or receiving an order card, is not supported by core function accounts. For the full end-to-end flow in this guide, use a full function account and a full function development shop.
| Test goal | Core function account | Full function account |
|---|---|---|
| Create a development shop | Supported | Supported |
| Send basic customer messages | Supported | Supported |
| Place a buyer test order | Not supported | Supported |
| Send or receive an order card | Not supported | Supported |
| Complete the full E2E flow in this guide | Not supported | Supported |
§3 Regional requirements for test accounts
Register and link test accounts in the same target market as the development shop.
- The official TikTok account and buyer TikTok account should use the same country or region as the development shop.
- If the TikTok app requires region-specific access, keep the device region, app region, SIM or network environment, and VPN/proxy location consistent with the development shop's market.
- Do not switch regions between account registration, account linking, product search, and order placement. Region mismatch is a common cause of shop search, buyer linking, and checkout failures.
- Use two different TikTok accounts. Once an official TikTok account is linked to the shop, it cannot access shop products due to policy constraints, so it cannot also be used as the buyer account.
§4 Apply for a development shop
Create a development shop before starting Customer Service E2E testing. Refer to Seller Center Development Shops User Guide for details on how to create and manage a development shop. For this guide, choose a full function development shop if you need to test buyer orders and order cards.
§5 Register two TikTok accounts
Register two separate TikTok accounts in the TikTok app:
| Account | Purpose | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Official TikTok account | Link to the Seller Center development shop. Buyers use this account name to find the shop. | Must be separate from the buyer account. |
| Buyer test account | Search for the development shop, place a test order, start a chat, and send an order card. | Must be linked as the buyer test account for the same development shop and market. |
Steps:
- Open the TikTok app in the target market environment.
- Register or log in to the account that will become the official TikTok account.
- Register or log in to a second TikTok account that will become the buyer test account.
- Confirm that both accounts can access TikTok Shop for the same market.

§6 Link an official TikTok account to a development shop
Use the official TikTok account to represent the shop in TikTok. Steps:
- Open the development shop management page in Seller Center.
- Find the TikTok account linking entry for the development shop.
- Start the official account linking flow.
- Log in with the official TikTok account and complete authorization.
- Return to Seller Center and confirm that the official account is shown as linked.
After linking, do not use the official account as the buyer. It cannot access the shop's products as a buyer because of policy constraints. Video walkthrough: Link an official TikTok account
§7 Link a test buyer account to a development shop
Link the second TikTok account as the test buyer account for the same development shop. Steps:
- In Seller Center, open the development shop's test buyer account linking entry.
- Start the buyer account linking flow.
- Log in with the buyer TikTok account, not the official TikTok account.
- Complete authorization and return to Seller Center.
- Confirm that the buyer account is listed as a linked test buyer account.

§9 List products in a development shop
Before the buyer can place a test order, the development shop must have at least one live product. Steps:
- Enter Seller Center for the development shop.
- Open the product creation or product management page.
- Create a product with the required category, title, image, price, stock, and shipping information.
- Submit the product listing for review.
- Wait a few minutes for the product to go live.
- Confirm that the product can be found in the development shop before asking the buyer account to place an order.
Note: After a product listing is submitted for review, it can take a few minutes before it goes live.
§10 End-to-end testing flow
Use the following flow to test the complete Customer Service scenario with a full function development shop:
- Seller creates a product in the development shop.
- Buyer finds the development shop in TikTok.
- Buyer places a test order.
- Buyer starts a customer service conversation.
- Buyer sends an order card.
- Seller receives the message and replies in Seller Center.

Create a test product that the linked buyer account can purchase. Steps:
- In Seller Center, open the development shop.
- Open the product creation page.
- Fill in the product's required fields, including title, category, images, price, inventory, and shipping information.
- Submit the product.
- Wait until the product is live.
- Keep the product name simple and recognizable so the buyer can identify it in the TikTok app.
§12 [Buyer] Find your development shop
Use the linked buyer account to find the development shop in the TikTok app. Steps:
- Open the TikTok app and log in with the linked buyer test account.
- Search for the linked official TikTok account name.
- Open the account profile.
- Go to the Shop tab.
- Confirm that the development shop and live test product are visible.
If the shop is not visible, confirm that the buyer account is linked to the same development shop and that the buyer account region matches the shop market. Video walkthrough: Find the development shop
§13 [Buyer] Place a test order in the TikTok app
Use the buyer test account to place an order for the live product. Steps:
- In the development shop's Shop tab, open the test product.
- Select the required SKU, quantity, shipping address, and other checkout details.
- Submit the test order.
- Confirm that the order is created successfully.
- Keep the order available for the next step, because the order card shortcut depends on an existing order.
This step requires a full function development shop. It is not supported by core function accounts. Video walkthrough: Place a test order
§14 [Buyer] Initiate a customer conversation in the TikTok app
Start a chat with the shop from the buyer account. Steps:
- While logged in as the buyer, open the development shop or the placed order.
- Tap the message or contact seller entry.
- Send a simple text message, such as "Test message".
- Confirm that the conversation appears in the TikTok app.
Video walkthrough: Initiate a customer conversation
§15 [Buyer] Send an order card
After placing a test order, the buyer can send the order card in the customer conversation. Steps:
- Open the conversation with the development shop in the TikTok app.
- Check the shortcuts above the message input box.
- Select the order from the shortcut list.
- Tap Send to send the order card to the seller.
- Confirm that the order card appears in the chat.
This step requires a full function development shop and a real test order. It is not supported by core function accounts. Video walkthrough: Send an order card
§16 [Seller] Receive and reply to customer service messages in Seller Center
Use Seller Center to verify that the seller can receive the buyer's message and reply. Steps:
- Open Seller Center for the development shop.
- Go to the customer service or messages section.
- Find the conversation from the buyer test account.
- Confirm that the text message and order card are visible.
- Send a reply from the seller side.
- Return to the buyer TikTok account and confirm that the reply is received.
